Inventory Management & Calibration

At VOCON Energy, we are well placed to provide full inventory management solutions, with proven experience managing several asset owners’ metering portfolios today.
Operating from our 6,000 sq. ft office and warehouse facility at Junction 34 of the M1, we have invested in the infrastructure, systems and processes required to deliver secure, scalable and fully compliant inventory control. Our full bar-coding scanning capability enables complete track-and-trace functionality through to the final installation of each meter, providing total visibility and accountability across the supply chain.
Working across regulated gas and utility environments, we understand that every item of plant and equipment must be traceable, compliant and fit for purpose at all times. Our structured systems ensure that nothing is left to chance, protecting our engineers, our clients and the networks we support.

Business Management System (BMS)

Our Business Management System (BMS) is used to monitor and record all calibration compliance for any plant and equipment owned and hired by VOCON. The system provides a live overview of service intervals and calibration schedules, allowing us to manage requirements proactively rather than reactively.

To maintain consistently high standards of control and compliance, we implement a structured and proactive approach to asset management:
– Monitor all assets daily through our BMS system, providing full visibility of equipment status and identifying tools due for testing, servicing, or replacement.
– Continuously review calibration and service schedules, including:
  • 3 months: Continuity bonds
  • 6 months: Ladders
  • 12 months: Electrical testing, calibration, and PAT testing
– Carry out regular plant and excavation equipment reviews, replacing items where necessary and ensuring all records, including serial numbers, are kept up to date.
– Undertake in-house testing and repairs, issuing replacement equipment to engineers as required and returning repaired items back into stock and the system.
– Generate a weekly compliance and inventory report, giving clear oversight of all tools and equipment issued from the depot, which is shared with the management team.
– Produce external equipment reports for hired items, tracking their location and assigned users.
– Proactively flag upcoming service and calibration deadlines, allowing time to schedule site visits or depot work.
– Align full equipment testing where possible to ensure all assets are checked, maintained, and replaced if required, maximising reliability and operational lifespan.
